I just bought a new FZ about half a month back and already have driven it 1500 kms. My Experience in one word is "AWESOME ! ". Before you make any opinions... you need to know that I have been driving bikes since last 4 years... so I am just an amatuer rider:
This is not a BIKE FOR YOU if :
1) You wanna save on monthly expenses. --- this bike drinks a lot. So if you are not up for it.... Go FYS..
2) You wanna ride at very high speeds...--- Buy Pulsar 220, Honda CBR or better the FZ1... or if you can afford it "Ducati Diavel". this is a 150 cc Bike .... its the best Speed and pick up wise in its category. it can very well give pulsar 220, 180 a run for their money under the speed of 70 kmph. No doubt it will easily take up any bike in its own criteria.
3) If drive for long hours---- I have driven it 250 kms straight in the city ... after 200 kms it was uncomfortable...
4) Driving on highways ---- Dude this is a city bike .... not an all purpose bike....
5) If you always have some one (except your special one) on the back seat....--- the pillon seat is small and you will always be very close to your rider.... so choose your rider carefully... :)
6) road clearence (height difference between the bike and the road) ...--- only for legal speed breakers. ..... for the ill-legal ones.. best of luck... and if you have some one riding with you... double best of luck....
you know this bike is for you if you need the following....:-
1) Chicks asking you to give them a ride home .. ;-) ...--- Good looks for anyone who can afford it...
2) cost effective...--- a world class bike in 75 k ... definitly worth it
3) wanna sit real close to your special one.....
4) safety... great handling and break response..... from 60-65 to 0 in less than 2 meters.....
5) Handling---- traffic jams.... you will always have room to wriggle-out of them.... rain wont bug you... no matter how much it rains the bike will not skid unless you are totally reckless or you want to skid....
6) will never let you down in case of emergency..... I havent seen many fz at the service center for repairing ..... the mechanics told me that except in some odd case they are mostly there for routine checks/service...... and very rare accidental cases....
I wanted a bike for style, comfort, with 150cc and in a budget .... I was confused between Apache 160 with ABS and FZ (Apache without ABS is suicide)....... I settled for FZ... coz of brand, looks, handling... and I did not care much about mileage as long as it is above 45 kmpl... which FZ delivers easily if you drive patiently (and trust me that is very hard to do when you have such an awesome bike in your hands)....
So... all in all .... I like my investment .... and everyone has different views...
P.S. Do not buy from LEADERS Yamaha, near south city mall, Kolkata... buy from Yamaha Factory Showroom, Dalhousie, Kolkata.
