Defective Yamaha-Fz16 Bike and Poor Service

I had purchased a new Yamaha Fz-16(Registration Details: KA-01 HD-6171) bike on 19/01/2014 from the dealer M/S PERFECT RIDERS NO - 127 Lalbagh Road Bangalore-560027, Karnataka, India.


Initially there was no issue with the bike. Later, I received a call on 20/02/2014 from Yamaha showroom stating the bike delivered belonged to some other person as the Engine number and Chasis number was registered in the name of that person. Hence they requested me to return the bike immediately and get it exchanged with the correct bike with Engine number and Chasis number registered to my name. I agreed to get it exchanged upon getting a letter for the problem happened. I returned the bike and got it exchanged on 22/02/2014 but they failed to provide the letter as agreed before. But upon bringing the issue to the customer relation manager in the month of June, they gave the letter in a written format with manager’s signature and company seal.


The old bike which I used has been to delivered to another customer.From the onset of exchanging the old bike with a new one, I faced repeated problems with mileage(23 Km/Lt) and performance of the new bike. When the problems were brought to the notice of the manager, they were unable to rectify and correct it.


In a span of 2 months, I approached the Yamaha service station for more than 8 times for the same problem. Each time I go, they replaced Spark Plug/Air Filter/Air Injector. But the problem was never solved. I gave the bike for the repair(Job Card # 15637) at the same service station on 06/08/2014(Wednesday) and on 07/08/2014(Thursday) I received a call from service station stating there is some major problem with the engine and they need to open the engine and check further for what the issue is.


I doubt the bike delivered is faulty or already used by some-one else. Therefore I requested them to replace the bike or refund the amount spent on the purchase.But till date, there is no talk about replacing the bike, instead, they are convincing me to take the old bike.


Hence, I have decided to approach consumer forum.
