Yamaha FZ16 Best sport bike in 150cc segment

This is my second review and I guess I would be able pen it right about the experience I had with my FZ16.First of let me clear a few myths that people have been writing about FZ16 which they had pointed it to be negative.

1) Less Mileage 2)Small Pillion seat, 3) No kick start 4) Small head light 5)No leg guard 6) High Price

7) Soft rear breaks.

Answer :

1) Less Mileage :Well one thing one must keep in mind that when u wish to have a custom designed bike by any company without putting any other personal effort to it ( eg : More Power with respect to 150 cc bike, broad tyres, etc) you will have to compromise on mileage as these things would add to it. Or think about buying any other 150 cc bikes with cycle thin tyres and alter it the way u wish to and then check the mileage. Hope those guys would keep their mouth shut about it as they would prove to be wrong.I get a mileage of 42-43 KM/L(City). I believe it couldn’t have been better.

2) Small Pillion seat& No kick start : Come guys it’s a sport bike, not a family bike for godsake stop cribbing. So who so ever mentioned about their fat GF’s unable to fitin the pillion seat well for a man with a sporty bike & sporty attitudeshould not have a fat GF.

Wellregarding the kick start..I guess the same debate would have been raised onceduring the revolution from Vintage car days to the modern cars…People mighthave definitely cribbed about …”Oh what if the car battery breaks down… we willhave to push it .. hence the cars with only a hand start is the best…but laterthe change was accepted… and now not a single car even the cheapest in themarket would not need a hand start, they start by batteries. (So why don’tthese guys now crib abt their cars). Hence the conclusion is accept the changefor good do not resist, as a brand company like Yamaha is not an idiot to goaway with the kick start … they will consider the quality of the battery as a toppriority.

3) Small head light :Great to know about the guys who cribbed about this … they typically resemble amentality …. Old is gold.. but forget to notice that even gold has taken a newform in todays world with a new design. What about the headlight itsrevolutionary . I really appreciate Yamaha for their talent of thinkingdifferent and not going in the direction of the old wind instead changed thedirection of the wind towards a new style and that too awesome.(Cheetah style)

4) No leg guard :Well not much to say abt this It was an issue earlier but u can have it fixedin an showroom.

5) Soft Rear break :Yes this was an issue but it has been rectified and all the service centres arehaving the

Levercam shaft relplaced for free as its under warranty.I had it replaced recentlyand it works wonderful now

6) High Price : Wellguys who so ever commented on this should realize that if one has payed Rs75000.00 for this bike even Yamaha has not done any kind of injustice.Asmentioned earlier the styling, both tubeless fat radial tyres, high gradeplastic quality, super smooth mono suspension, mini silencer, designspecifications with centrally balanced load which in itself is a very goodresult of long term R&D …. Will definitely cost more money to desing such athing compared to all the other bike which look the same in some or the otherway and cost a whopping 60-75000 Rs. Hence at any point of time an awesomeinnovative thought for Rs 75k is definitely preferable. But why look at it thisway even if we think of altering any cheaper bike to a bike like FZ16 style andquality will cost way beyond what Yamaha has charged. Its just that Yamaha hadlost its grip on the market they had fix on to the current price to sell in large numbers. If this kind of bike had beenlaunched by hero Honda or Bajaj would have easily charged way over 80-85000.00Rs. So according to me its right priced. So guys who still have mythsare the only ones who have no idea and just want to put some silly commentswithout even a single responsible thought about the design specifications.

I had a CBZ earlier and that was an awesome bike to hold with as well it has some drawbacks of its own, tolist a few.

CBZ/ FZ16

1) Suspension are notvery smooth : / front Suspenions , rear mono suspension’s thebest

2) Road grip good / Road grip is of unmatched quality (better than CBZ)

3) Acceleration issuperb (100 km/h) / Acceleration is good till 80… 80 -100 takesmore time

4) Disc break good / Disk break the best

5) Head light notbright / Head light very bright

6) Good looks / Best looks (Revolutionary)

7) Mileage -39-40km/l / 42-43 km/l

Hence if we look at over all parameters FZ16 easily rates over CBZ.

What would have a still the best for FZ16 I would say

1) 17” 140/60 - rear tyre instead of 16”.

2) Acceleration between 80-100 km should have been better.

3) FI technology

Believe me guys I was very happy with my CBZ and latter when I saw the FZ16 add I could not resist my self buying it, with a very less review available on the net prior to 3-4 months, I had to buy it with my personal gut feeling that it supposed to be good and I was right FZ16 is not just good but AWESOME no doubt it.
