I got my new Yamaha fz16 , lava red on the 15th June .. so just thought that I’ll give my first impressions about the bike . well I’m not going into the looks or specs of it as exhaustive reviews have already been written on the same subject right here on mouthshut ...
Just my two day experience on riding the bike.. for starters I quite liked the digital console (that’s just my opinion) , well once you turn on the ignition and get started you definitely can feel the power coming through and before you know it the bike has touched 5K on the rpm meter ... and since the bike is in break-in period I didn’t push it beyond that . the exhaust note is great . it’s not as harsh as the pulsar so that’s good ( again my personal opinion ) as some might like the throaty exhaust better .
I found the up-shifts really good ... but I came across this one thing which I’d like to share ... at times the bike absolutely refuses to shift down from 3rd to 2nd gear ... now I dunno if anyone else has had this problem but it happened to me a couple of times and in traffic so it was a bit annoying ...
So I really want to know about that ... another one is I really didn’t think the rear seat was all that bad as being made out to be . I was able to take my mom pillion who sits side-saddle and is not skinny either ;-) . well i’m 6 feet tall as well so just thought I’d clarify on that . I haven’t checked on the average yet as the bike is just a couple of days old and has done hardly 50kms. Will update as I clock more km on the bike and if anybody else has faced the problem with the down shifts please let me know what I should do .
