Its 3 years I have bought the black gladiator SS from Ambal Motors, Chennai. Till date, I am proud of my decision. Its the best bike in 125 cc category. I bought it for 51k. Considering the features packed in it, its a deal. I wont compare it with Honda Stunner, since it is much more expensive than Glady. But other 125 cc bikes dont stand a chance in front of Glady.
Top speed reached - 103 km/h on route to pondicherry. Good pick up, smooth acceleration, engine makes very less noise, very comfortable sitting position, exceptional handling and control. The bike is large and gives you a feel of 150 cc bikes. The bike comes with a 5-speed gear box which gives enough pickup to get ahead of other bikes when the signal turns green. It is a perfect blend for both the highway and city riding conditions. The engine gives an output of 11 bhp at 7500 rpm which is very good for a 125cc bike. Best part is the looks and style Yamaha has given it.
Now lets come to the problems. The front numberplate is a show killer. I adjusted it. Also replaced the toe gear shifter. Chain is open which is not good for Indian roads. Also I feel a little more wider rear tyre would have provided better roadgrip - this is my personal idea. The roadgrip in the bike is ok. And lastly the mileage, I never got more than 50, many guys claimed they are getting 60.
Adding all the pros and cons, my decision is if you are buying a 100 cc bike for 40-45, put a little more money and get this bike. At 50k, Glady rocks!
