The No Samjhauta Bike
Brief Me: Born and brought up in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, I am a executive working for an MNC Bank. And was riding a Hero Honda Splendor since the past 3 years.
Options & Why:
I bought my Splendor - just because a lot of people around me had it and at that time, I wanted to play safe. And then two years down the line, I started thinking that it was not giving me any pleasure, or real riding comfort. It was just a normal bike. With so many new models coming in, so many options and advertisements coming everyday, petrol prices going up - I thought it was time to change
Research:
Frankly, its a fish market out there. Hundreds of models to choose from and hundreds of deals. But, two things were clear for me - go in for a brand (Yamaha or Honda) and saving 500-1000 rs wont affect me; I needed a bike that would last, be pleasure to drive and high on average!
Yamaha Libero:
After reseaching for 3 months, I landed up at the local dealer - Planet Yamaha to test drive the Libero. And there was the new model - Libero LX with the round headlight.
I have to say, at this time I was impressed with the macho looks, the neat fuel tank and the overall appeal of the bike.
Also, it was such an experience at this Yamaha dealership- Planet Yamaha - the atmoshpere, the service quality, the sales/finance staff. It felt really world class - the kind you hear about big brands.
Review:
Now that I bought it, I am writing this review because I am really so pleased - with myself (because I made the right choice).
The Yamaha Libero is an ideal bike for executives / middle class consumers like me.
I looked at four aspects before buying and this bike excels at all of them
Average
See, everyone in India knows that petrol prices are shooting up. You never know when itll go up another 5 rs. The main reason for buying a motorcycle is the average. And my baby gives me a 72kms to a litre in city conditions. Which is great! Havent used it on the highway much, but I am sure that its going to be too good.
Maintainence
Yamaha means no maintainence. That is what a TVS dealer personally told me when I went to his showroom. And I caught on to it. Really, since the day I ve bought it , I just visit my dealer for regular service. Nothing else.
Price
I also had to choose my price. If I had the money to spend and average was not a concern , I would have gone in for Karizma. But in my case, I was looking at 40-45k, which is quite reasonable these days for a QUALITY BIKE, I HAVE TO STRESS. Yes, cheap bikes are there, hundreds of them. But for a Yamaha, the Libero is so well priced. It is actually at par / even lesser than competetors
Looks
My last but equally important criteria. See, you have to ride a bike everyday. And im sick of looking at the big headlights on the road, the Victors, The passions....! The LIbero is macho, at the same time sleek and with a round headlight, the most good looking bike of all I must say
To sum it all up, I rate my Yamaha Libero as 9.9 out of 10. Its been 6 months and im sure 3 years down the line also my review wont change
