Here are some inputs:
I own a 9 months old TVS Wego and a 1 week old Yamaha Ray -done about 320km.
Few points about Ray
Positives and Negatives:
Compact scooter. Excellent Handling, Great styling.
1st mileage after purchase: impressive 55kmpl- Yamaha claims 52kmpl, I will check what is the consistent mileage after 1st service .(Wego claimed 60kmpl but gives an modest 49kmpl).
Big speedometer Dial with Aqua Green and white backlit - looks nice at night.
The Utility space and hook is rigid - wego also has a front hook and a glove box in front.
Handle lock works when the handle is turned left, feels like bajaj super. Wego locks either side -like a bike- and feels very solid.
Try kick start only when vehicle is on main stand. Otherwise the kick lever may hit the main stand and vehicle would tend to fall.
Seat comfort doesnt exist and suspension is stiff! I wish Ray was as comfortable as Wego.
Notice the review by Motorbeam https://youtube.com/watch?v=wr07xfAax7k, the worm gear has a problem and the needle is vibrating in this video between 0.49 sec to 1.03 sec. I have a similar issue with the new vehicle. We have to live with this. Wego has no such complaints.
There is only1 bulb in headlamp. All other scooters have parking lamp, either 1 or 2 small bulbs.
Fibre body makes more noise on bad roads, compared to the all metal body of Wego.
On the speedometer area there is only 1 indicator for the blinkers. You cant understand if the left one is on or the right.
Engine runs very smooth only after you cross 40 kmpl. Same as Wego.
You have to open the seat at fuel station unlike Wego where the fuel cap is near the tail lamp.
I have to cross 1000km to try top speed, pick up etc. So far there is no other scooter in the market that can match TVS Wego.
It also offers a variant with disc brakes and option for mobile charging. I primarily bought Wego for its car like comfort, which comes from its super soft seat, extremely effective suspension coupled with big 12 inch alloy wheels. I picked yamaha ray only for its low seating height. My bikes are lying idle since these scooters have come. Both the scooters are a joy to ride.
