FULL RX-100 DETAILED REVIEW

I have this yamaha rx100 for 2 years now, although I have been riding my rx100 for the last 8 years.I learned to ride bike with the help of this bike.the one I learned on was a 1989 make and I one I own is a 1987 model.Bangalore has more rx100s on the road than anyother city in India.

why? banglore means fast life and so you need a fast bike.

lets now come to the details of the bike.

SO Far: So far my bike has shown 49000 kms.still this bike gives a decent performance with newbikes.considering its age of 20 years it was supposed to turn into a scrap, still it rages on the road.

Mileage: Rx100s are known to give mileage of 35 km/litre, well make a slight adjustment for mileage and you shall get 40+ kms/litre.I get 42 kms/litre.Not bad enough for a 2 stroke bike.

handling: Well both tires have drum brakes.Good braking capability but if you hit brakes suddenly at 60 -70 kms/hr then although the tires stop rotating the bike skids left and right. But the great thing is the bike doesnt loose the balance and you wont topple down.

Looks: looks are not that high enough to turn heads.

Comfort: Really superb.Great comfort, you cn ride 4 hours at a stretch and still donot have back pains.

handling: A great cg if you ride alone, but once you have a pillion rider its a complete different experince.pickup, acceleration, top speed falls.although you can take sharp turns as usual.

pickup: can give pulsar a run for its money. 0 -60 in 2.5 secs.

top speed: 100 km/hr.

price: since this bike is not manufactured now a days to get a second hand bike you should not spend more then 15000 for the bike.

cons: the brakes, clutch and gears get loose very quickly. You will have to get them fixed every 15 days.the foot rest gap between the pilot and the pillion rider is too low.

pros: wider rear tyre gets good grip on the road.

if you like to feel like a bird, go at a high speed on a sleek bike with the conventional sound of yamaha raging go get it.
