Yes, It is my second love... I am a die hard royel enfield fan, (You might have thought.. this guy me be stupid) but yes.I had bought second hand T bird 350 2007 model. She was superb.
I still remember the first time when I took her to my office, I am normally looking guy with 5.4" height. It was really difficult for me to controlled her. T bird weight is aprox 160 kgs.... But still it was T bird and the second look was guaranteed. (Thanks to my Chennai made modified silencer.
That was the happiest day of my life. Fast forward the story. The twist came in to the story after 2 months I bought it. The rear tyer was worn out and was necessary to replace it 3.50X19 was not available in whole Mumbai. It was like a routine for me to surf net to search this tyer at all dealers. I was fed us. Due to the condition I could not take her out on log rides (that was the main purpose).
Finally after spend hours and hours on net I decided to complain about it to Royel enfield. I called at their Chennai factory. and got contact of some regional manager, after calling 3 to 4 more concern person finally I reached Mr. Malpekar from Bangalore who then sent pair of tyre to Mumbai....
But this was just the beginning, You will never find a good enfield mechanic in Mumbai, it was pain to hunt for someone like this. Meanwhile I faced two brake downs and spent nearly Rs. 14000 on repair. Then one day engine sounding differently. I took her to the garage and my hart stopped for 1 min. There was a major issue with the piston and it will required approx 10 k more to repair it..
I came to know this bike was already did Himaliyan odissy clocked 40, 000 Kms and I bought her for 58, 000 + 14000 it was a ready bad deal, I took decision to sale her......
I have decided not to buy new bike. 2 years passed I have joined a MNC IT company at Powai and initially it was very helpful to travel especially when its a shift duty around the clock.
for 2 months I used My brother’s Honda Unicorn. it was a great relief. It is 55 Km daily running.
I had make up my mind that this is the correct time for me to buy a new bike.
My father owns a Bajaj Platina, And he strongly forced me to buy any Bajaj bike. But I did not wanted to go for it. I started my research. By keeping in mind the distance to be covered daily, complete highway root. It was necessary for the bike to be very fuel efficient, strong road grip and good pickup.
I have decided to go for 125 CC segment. the options were Honda Shine, Bajaj Discover and Yamaha SS 125.
Honda Shine was good bike but log waiting period ..... I dropped this option.
Bajaj Discover- I wanted to bike to really strong, I have seen for such a heavy use bike needs to be very strong, I have never seen a Bajaj bike (my uncle owned a pulsar 150 UG 2007 model)
wrone out in 2 years for just 33, 000 kms.
So the option remain was SS 125. I bought her for 63, 000 on road price with two mind, (Second thought was to wait for another year and go for Classic 350 (cost was 1, 30, 000)
I was very tense, before making full payment. But I decided to go for it.
It was perfect.
Today When I am writing this review I have already clocked 9000 KMs in just 7 months.
Now the facts
Milage = I get 58 to 60 KMPL, that was stunning, good riding habit and change oil after every 2000 kms without any fail. check pressure in tyre .
Handelling = is superb in city traffic as well as on highway, seating position is good and in spite of riding so much I have never felt a back pain Looks= Looks are OK, Value for money = YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES Yamahaaaaa!!!!!!!!
Service = is ok. not too good,
Parts = available but you need to search in the market. I have saved a lot of money, At the End I felt like a Film story, Hero loves a beautiful girl, hart broken in love... arranged marriage and happily ending at the end.........................
