I purchased szr in may 2011. I was owning pulsar 150 earlier. szr is so comfortable to drive its addictive. Yamaha was the leader in 1980 era. Its legendary bike rx100 that I was lucky to own for 10 yrs. now szr. sorry readers I am very nostalgic about 2 stroke bikes. szr braking is alright, but on wet roads dont brake hard. It picks up when needed to overtake a bus or a car is slightly underpowered. its the same engine that ’s been used in fz series bikes but a de-tuned one.
What I greatly like about this bike is its crispness of engine. you feel the engine unlike pulsars. its very nimble to handle in traffic. As the bike is 5 speed, you will be surprised that one can put 4th gear at 20km/h and the bike wont jerk its so smooth. Its electronics like indicators rear brake light are excellent but sorry to say its front light is pretty weak. even on high beam its pathetic. bike is meant for city only. Take it on a highway you will realize the weakness of bike. Fuel consumption it gives me 45km/l. top speed that I have attained is 101 km/h (my weight is more than 100kgs). Dont laugh guys I am not that fat I am tall too.
I think people whose weight is around 70 can attain speed of 115 km/h and more mileage for them too. because if you put more weight on a bike mileage drops. 4th gear I found out is the best gear in the bike. You can put 4th at 20km/h then take it to 80km/h . Best pickup is in 4th gear. torque of bike comes early but one cannot feel the torque in 1st and 2nd gears. One has to quickly change from 1st gear to 2nd gear then 3rd gear to get torque. 5th gear has been put but not very exciting. the bike runs best performance wise between 65 to 80km/h. and that is enough in a city right .?
Ending I would say that its your choice and decision and your personal liking that’s most important . Dont get swayed by good reviews and put down your choice and liking. If you really like something go for it people will only chatter.
