Recently my mother got admitted in Yatharth Hospital Noida 110 due to severe abdominal pain and very high BP. After initial investigation they shifted her to ICU saying need to keep her under observation for few days until we find out the root cause. After two days of numerous test, CT, USG etc. they confirm that my mother got acute pancreatitis attack due to stone in gall bladder.
Now as a course of treatment doctors suggested that 1st we treat her for pancreatitis and once it gets settled then we’ll go for gall bladder removal i.e laproscopy surgery.
After 8 days of treatment (4 days ICU + 4 days in private room) they said now we have to go for surgery. Now since I have insurance, doctor asked me to connect with billing section to get this surgery expenses approval from insurance and as soon as we get approval, we can go for the surgery.
When I talk to billing department they offered me a laproscopy surgery package which costs Rs. 63000 and upon asking about inclusion/exclusions in the package they said OT cost, Single AC private room for 2 days, doctor visit for 2 days, anesthesia cost and pharmacy etc. all are under package and the only exclusion is if any additional blood is required for the patient.
Now post surgery when I saw the final bill on the day of discharge I left SHOCKED to see that they added lot of items over and above to its actuals. For example they have added 18 doctor visits, they have added OT charges saying it’s a part of investigation before surgery, your actual surgery went under package only (Is it making any sense?).
Now when I looked at pharmacy breakup I saw they have added post surgery madicines outside but not taken as a part of package. And upon asking clarification on this they said sir antibiotics and pain killer are not a part of package when we all know that antibiotics and pain killers are the must have medicine post any kind of surgery.
I went to meet Mr. Jitendra, head of billing, and asked him about this nonsense why these things were not communicated when I asked twice before taking package, why these exceptions are coming up now at the time of discharge.. all he has to say "Sir wo ladka naya hoga usse pata ni hoga, I apologise for that miscommunication".
Unbelievable, the entire hospital is full of irresponsible and incompetent staffs. Their only motive is to suck more and more money out of you. They will lie to any extent, they will add anything in your bill to shoot up your overall hospitalization bill.
My learning and Advise to everyone:-- Please stay away from these fraudsters and in case you have no option but to visit this place then be vigilant and keep proofs of everything in written of whatever being done around your hospitalization. If they are offering you any package then ask them them entire list of inclusions/exclusions. Just Don’t go by the world as these FRAUDSTERS will screw you at the time of discharge.
