Not timepass...a complicated theme of human rel

I wouldn’t say this is the best movie but it does have a very good signature of nana patekars acting skills. It revolves around the central character of Nana patekar who is well settled with a small family in the urban.

Happens to be an award winning writer who is on travel for the award and when he is asked while travelling about the name the book he had written explains how it was related to his real life. The story revolves around some part in andhra and describes some early life incidents in his life where he had met a beautiful mistress(rekha) of a very influential landlord in andhra.

She was escaping his landlord who asked her to entertain his friends and finally ends up in the protection of our central character portrayed nana(who is then married) and an affection develops between them. The landlords men find out her with his family and finally captures her and brutally tortures her.

Nana and his family is forced to leave to avoid further problem and after years he writes this story which wins him the award, he happens to surprisingly meet rekha again on the way and finally the story ends with nana dying in the hands of rekha following a heart attack(this creates some issues in his family when his wife finds out). The story has been briefed but it portrays everything is a slow silent and real life environment.

The dialogs are pretty plain and the incidents are well coordinated but a little slow, its definitely not the movie if you are looking for a day out with your girlfriend or family or if you those pea brained happy going lads who look for petty themed love stories / joke timepasses that you see with SRK, priety, john or paresh rawal , but if you are looking at a weekend movie alone or with a shot of whisky where you have enough time...yeah maybe this is the second last choice of movie :-)

I liked it somewhat because it has a distinct beauty of its own and the acting skills are somewhat properly utilized. After seeing Apaharan I was really happy to see nana portray a sober character of a silent lover and a simple family man with all its complications humour and real life portrayal. But the theme is again revolving around love which I believe is like a shot of brandy nowadays being portrayed in every tom dick and harry hindi movies :-) Could have been made a little more if the theme had a proper twist and movie could have had a little more pace. The acting skills of nana and rekha are truly exceptional and they proved once again that they are capable of portraying every aspect of life through their skills
