If you ever consider travelling abroad with Yatra, think twice. I lost my original documents that yatra got from me for visa processing and lost a total of about 25000 in INR. Not to mention the hassle they created by giving us wrong information about the possible travel routes because of which we travelled 20 hours (yes 20 hours) to reach India from Europe. The proper route would have brought us back to my hometown in less than 14 hours. Besides, we weren’t the only people suffering. We were on a group trip. One lady with a young child cried on the trip because of the way yatra had booked their flights. A passenger crying - does it even sound good?
If you talk to the representatives, they blame the customers. The MUMBAI BACK OFFICE is absolutely difficult to handle. They have 2 or 3 people tied to one customer and each time you get information from a different person. At the end, when you have a complaint, they conveniently say they weren’t aware. Since much of communication happens over phone, you are left with no proof. Even the top managers are equally unresponsive and wouldn’t even reply to escalation emails. When they lost my original document, the representative coolly said I should have been careful while sending the documents to them... yes I agree 100%. I shouldn’t have given the documents to YATRA in the first place! During one of the phone calls, the representative hung up on me, although I wasn’t using any unparliamentary or harsh words. I was asking why they were doing this, she did not have an answer and hung up. During another call while asking about my lost documents, the representative said that she remembers she has send every original document to me and pretty much said that I was the one who was lying about the lost documents. Why would I lie? After 2 days, she sends me one of the lost documents although one more was still missing. Do NOT ever give your original documents to YATRA for visa processing team.
The so called "Visa Expert Team" apparently knows nothing but to create hassle. They really don’t care if they are given original documents which are valuable to customers. They have no proper process to keep track of your originals. Once lost, its gonna cost you more to apply for reissuing the government documents. In my case, I cannot even reapply the lost document because the document is from a different country and I have left that country. If possible, get your visa done on your own. Although you pay them for processing your visa, they talk as if they are doing it for free and they say we should be more careful while submitting things to them. They are absolutely irresponsible and do not trust them with your original documents. SO be very very careful if you really want to proceed with visa processing through yatra. Submit only copies and not originals.
They also made last minute tour changes because of which I had to cancel my connecting flight bookings. I had made the connect flight bookings only after getting final tour detail confirmation from Yatra’s first representative. The second representative sent us the revised tour details on the day of actual departure. We immediately cancel and reschedule the connecting flights incurring a cost of 14000 INR. We ask yatra for re-imbursement and they say they will take care of it once we are back from the tour. After coming back from the tour, they conveniently say they were not aware we had a connecting flight and that they cannot take any responsibility for last minute changes.
On the whole, I had a terrible experience with YATRA and would not recommend them to even my enemies...
