Remember WAKE UP SID. yes the same director directed this boring no really boring movie.
Yes Ayan Mukherjee who looked so promising in Wake Up Sid is the director of this movie who fails deliver what he was expected to A Good Movie
Lets start with the actors
Ranbir Kapoor-well he has proved himself as a very good actor of the current lot but in this movie his scope of acting was very limited to none.He plays the role of Bunny who is a dreamer and wants to travel and explore the world. In the limited scope of his character he performed rather well.
Deepika Padukone- Frankly I ve never liked her and I think she is one of the most overrated actress of our generation. She neither has the looks nor the talent. She plays a girl next door who has always topped in her exam and pursuing a career in medicine. With her image it is hard to digest in such a role and she is horrible in the movie!
Kalki- She is one of my favorite actress, as a carefree, modern girl of of our generation and then in the second leg as traditional yet modern bride she pulled off the role really well
Aditya Roy Kapoor-well, his role in this movie was" to- be -continued" of Aashiqui mode. He was an unnecessary addition to the movie.
Plot- The movies first half was consists of travelling actually a trekking expedition where the four schoolmates meet their friendship blossoms and so called adventure they think they do.highly ridiculous.deepika’s character discovers that she has been missing out a lot of fun young people do because she has to study so much to become a doctor.Ranbir is the redeemer for her and he makes her realize that she is fine and she obviously falls in love with him and he doesnt as he has got the opportunity of his life to study journalism in Chicago.
Second half-Kalki’s wedding where Bunny meets Naina again and this time she makes him realize what he has been missing and both of them fall in love.
This is the crux of a 3 hrs disaster.For a romantic comedy what really works is the moment that the lead characters experience and this movie totally lacked in this aspect.the two lead actors shared absolutely no chemistry like say Kajol and SRK shared in DDLJ. Even the good mushy dialogues were missing
Technically the movie was weak, the the basic thing that was missing from the movie was yes A STORY.They tried to create a modern version of DDLJ but this movie was a disaster right from the time when Deepika was casted in the movie(Sorry! Deepika’s fanS I hope you agree with me)
Direction was below average, screenplay a debacle songs were just there for the sake of it.but I loved BALAM PICHKARI song.
Editing was also below average.
Performance wise Ranbir and kalki stood out in supporting role Farookh Shaikh was good.
The best part of the movie was definitely the item number by Madhuri Dixit she looked Ravishing and she still can give a lot of actress a run for their money.She dazzled the screen with her item number Ghagra
All in all I give this movie 1/5
