90s nostalgia is back again

So TVF has come back with another web series "yeh meri Family" which is in a way a path breaker for the company’s history of making more of contemporary stories, also this series unlike their previous works is much family oriented and cleaner in terms of screenplay.(this may be due to the controversy regarding the founder of TVF has tarnished the company’s repute.

Coming back to the series, the series mainly focus on story of a middle class family of five in 90s of India, with Middle child Harshu’s point of view.

The backdrop is the summer break of school, and to justify the geography, the story is placed in a smaller town of Jaipur, which in 90s was not such a big city.

The characters are so well written that finding a flaw is almost impossible, and those who are born and brought up in 90s of India, will relate to each one immediately.

Acting Performances:

Vishesh Bansal as Harshu:

Vishesh Bansal justifies his charachter Harshu’s plight with such an ease that you are taken to his world without any hiccups in the journey. The actor who has acted previously in some TV shows has proven his talent as a young boy you can not miss, He comes from the lineage of Rajat Tokas and Vikarnt Massy who have proven that at young age you can deliver good performances. The actor has played the victim and the brat so convincingly that you can’t stop smiling at his antics.

Ahan Nirbhan as Dabbu:

Dabbu, played by Ahan is the good boy of the family with dark secrets, he has been the apple of eye for his mom and dad, while a thorn in his younger brother’s life. Ahan portrays the young confused bossy elder brother of Indian Middle Class who is on the verge of becoming adult. The adolescence, is played so well by him that the actor is sure to receive more such offers.

Ruhi Khan as Dhwani:

youngest of the sibling "chitthi" is the only neutralizer between the ever quarrelsome brothers, she is loved by everyone in family, and probably the cute actress is the best pick for the role, she has innocent voice and it suits the dialogues so well that you can excuse the folly that her diction is not that accurate. But what else can you ask from such a young talent, she enjoys her role as much we do. and that’s what is important at her age.

Mona Singh as the Mother:

Mona Singh is probably the most known face of the series, and her acting prowess is already proven, she gets so well into skin of the character of being a Mom who is worried about her children that you can relate her to your mom. and as Raju Hirani once said, "She Delivers the best" and yet again she does.

Akash Khurana:

Khurana, is such a veteran actor that the other cast and crew members must have learned so many things about film making, screenplay writing and of course acting. the Actor who first appeared on screen in 1981 in Shyam Benegal’s Kalyug, has been doing theater since 1970’s, which is evident in his acting as a dotting father of the three kids and a loving husband. I am sure the actor must have loved watching young talents working hard.

He is the quintessential Indian Father who is the silent hero of the family, and after one of the episodes I felt to speak to my Dad and thank him for being there, when I needed, without questioning or taking credits. Such an impact was in Akash’s performance.

Screenplay and Story:

The Story is simple and well weaved, and so is the flow, except for the promotion of SIP plans, which is of course a financial obligation.

Special applause to one of my favorite poets and my school alumnus Hussain Haidry for the title track, and other few songs.

Also credits to the editing department for creating visual treat as an opening sequence, showing families of different species, and explaining that family is important, even for animals other than Humans.

All in All:

This is something that is better than foulmouthed stand up comics. just let the 90s nostalgia sync in.
