Jatin -Lalit have been one of my favourites since their Yaara Dildaara days.Their orchestration and composition clearly have a Panchamda influence. Although of late they have given trashy albums like Zameer and Cheetah, but an album like Yes Boss makes us surrender to their melifluous songs. Now, I will discuss the songs one by one as each song has their own magic.
Main Koi Aisa Geet (Abhijeet): Undoubtedly, this is the best song sung by Abhijeet and he is helped by some excellent lyrics by Jaaved Akhtar sab and a beautiful orchestration by Jatin Lalit.
Churi Baji hai kahin (Udit and Alka): This is the only song sung by Udit Narayan in this film album. The song has a folksy feel to it and excellent use of dholak. I personally feel that this particular song has a strong Laxmikant Pyarelal influence.
Chaand Taare(Abhijeet): After two mushy songs, this is a welcome change. This song is all about boundless ambition of typical middle class youth and Javed saabs lyrics is just too good here. Simple yet poetic.
Suniye To (Abhijeet): Although, there is a strong influence of an Arabic Song, the song is peppy, and forces you to shake a leg.
Ek Din Aap (Sanu and Alka): Jatin Lalit have always been known for their soft romantic numbers like Pahla Nasha and O Humsafar(Fareb). This song is no exception. In fact, it is the best song of the album both lyrically and musically.
Jaata Hai Tu Kahan(Abhijeet): This song is a situational track and is a curious amalgamation of pop, Qawali and U.P. folk. Abhijeet sings it with full gutso and the experimental orchestration only makes the song even more listenable.
So , guys if you havent listened to Yes Boss you are surely missing Jatin Lalits best.
