This Not A King, Its An Emperor

The Yezdi . It Is The Yezdi. It Was A Yezdi. It Will Be A Yezdi.

Take a bike that has a 250C.C. engine below the shell, add a kick start cum gear lever and make that engine so powerfull, that if you get one kick wrong, you might actually break your ankle. Now THAT IS THE YEZDI. And when you say Yezdi RoadKing, heads turn, chins dribble, hands tremble and what not happens for a bike fanatic. After the Enfields if there was ever a bike that commanded an equal or is some cases more respect on the road it was the Yezdi Series of bikes.

If you my reader are a dude from Bangalore, you don’t have to read further because you know what I am talking about already. Because trust me mates that city is the Mecca for Yezdi Riders, mainly for two things the qualified mechanics you can find after some searching and also the possiblity of finding original parts and also that the erstwhile manufacturing factory was located in close proximity of Bangalore.

What I have is an age old Yezdi, first maintained by my dad for 17 years and then taken over by me and maintained ever since. The only place I got lucky was that my dad never stretched the bike and it only had 34, 000 on the odometre, though he had the engine overhauled in 1989. And then in 1998 my challenge began as I started searching for original parts, often taking parts from eisiting motorcycles that where no longer being used and then finally after about a year I did get the bike back to the original shape and man it was a pleasure.....

The trademark dual diffusers add to the aura of the bike with that masculine beat that creates a stir in the soul. I also have to thank this bike for the fact that my fiancee chose me only because I rode a Yezdi to office in the early years. This is a kinda bike that makes the rider look like a different being, and offcourse the bike is an entity of its own.

There is only one key to riding this bike..... Give the Bike its deserved respect and it will get you the respect on the road, otherwise you and the mechanic will be best buddies for life.
