Im not much of a foodie, but do enjoy eating out once in a while, mostly on weekends.
The weekend past(Saturday), I visited the Yoko Sizzlers outlet at Santacruz West.
The place was jam packed as always, but I was lucky to get a table for four soon as I walked in with the family. Its a narrow, elongated space so nothing over much to comment upon as far as the ambiance goes. Since the house speciality is sizzlers, we heard nothing but the buzz of other patrons and the sizzle of platters across tables, coupled with the assorted smells & smoke therefrom.
The waiters were very curt, to the point of being rude, while they did advise on the spice content per dish, what finally reached the table was a congealed, mishapen mass of assorted veggies and a sprinkling of fries on a sizzle platter. I order the house speciality and a paneer/mushroom variant(both vegetarian).
The veggies were absolutely raw, so couldnt be eaten just because they happened to be on a sizzler plate. Minimum should have been blanched at least and season a bit for taste. As mentioned, the fries were barely there and these too were stuck to the heated metal. The pepper sause / seasoning or whatever, was absolutely bland and tasteless; I actually poured almost the entire small bottle of chilli sauce onto the heap along with salt & pepper to get some semblance of taste/spice to the goulash in front of us.
My daughter(age 14) kept picking at her plate while I somehow managed to finish it since it cost Rs.700/dish.
To think that people are wiling to wait a minimum of 45-60 mins to dine there. Guess there is no accounting for taste/s OR, it could be V-day rush?
After the basic food, we thought of having some desserts. Enquired about their sizzling brownie with hot chocolate or some such. Not available. Offered us caramel custard only to come back later to inform even that is not available. All in all, a crummy experience. I wont be going back anytime soon.
They dont accept reservations over the phone so you need to come in person and register your name at the counter.
For the price points, service standards, food quality and waiting time, I would rate this place 1.5*(thats 1 star and a half)
