A lot to learn

Many people think that Younis Khan has the mantle to lead Pakistan in the future, well my answer to that is NO.

Younis Khan first of all needs to cement his place in the side through good perfomances, and once he is a permanent member of the squad, only then can you start to mention his name for captaincy.

Younis is a lower middle order batsmen, this is the position where in a ODI the foot needs to be on the gas. He cannot do this. He bides his time as If he has forever to accumulate his runs. That cannot be done in One Day cricket. He needs to learn that others around the world who bat in this position up the run rate, rather than halt it.

I was disgusted with his approach to the first ODI against India at Karachi. He came out to bat when Pakistan needed to score 8-9 runs per over, yet Younis Khan found it appropriate to troddle along at 5-6 an over. I think he is the one to blame for that loss.

I have no problem with him playing in the test squad, he stroll along at his own comfortable pace with no complaints from anyone.

Younis Khan has a very modest avergae in both forms of the game, in particular the one day internationals. His average is 31, for a specialist batsmen that is poor. Abdur Razzaq who plays as an allrounder has an average of 30. Now I leave it to you to decide who should play at the number 5 position. I sometimes think that we have room to play Asim Kamal in the one day squad. Kamal could come at number 3, therefore pushing everyone else down by one.

Younis Khan on present form should not wear a green top for Pakistan.
