The fast and the furious

Well yeah the wait is finally over and the dew fresh promos and youthful euberance can be watched at ur nearest theatres. the crowd that hung around the theatres was roaring with enthusiasm and the movie opened to a youthful outburst.....

Then Abhishek’s story unfolds and we are introduced to Lallan(Bachan) who is frm Lucknow and bred in Kolkata ’s swarming city. he is ruthles, violent, passionate and evrything a lower middle class man embodies. One minute he is hitting his wife played by a brilliant-as-ever Rani Mukherjee (Sasi) but nother minute he is caught up in passion and is a man who beats up college students and kills people but cries during a emotional film scene. some brilliant acting from Abhishek Bachan and his character is the best one scripted among the three and he impresses.

take 2: Ajay Devgan plays Michael who is a student political activist who believes that he had enough of politicians and their dirty college politics and decides that people have reacted enough and now need to act. Ajay Devgan with those forceful eyes and easy swagger amkes the role believable but his character is sketchy while his love interest played by Esha Deol has still to learn the nuances of acting but manages to look good.

And last but definitely not the least, Vivek Oberoi and Kareena bring to us the Mtv generation who meet at cofee days and discs while Vivek dreams of The american Dream and Kareena is going to be married off. they both make the romance crazy ones dizzy and sometime u feel the ticket was not all wasted. Vivek as usual never underplays his charcter and their onscreen chemistry and flirting make for excellent love story. Yuva is the story of what happens when all the three meet and where their destinies take them.the women are only there to make the frames look good.

the cinematography is excellent and we realize how Mani Ratnam can make the crampiness of a never before potrayed Kolkata look better than New zealand locales minus the chiffon sarees and love songs. A R Rehman has given a brilliant music score as usual. How can we xpect the Ratnam-Rahman to fail to impress. If only for the script, mani ratnam could have had a moderate hit in his hand. But a good effort and the frames worth watching with Rehman’s music to underplay the lacklustre script. Worth a dekko.
