Innovative style but story not gripping enough

To be frank I saw this movie because it is is directed by Mani Ratnam. I knew even if the movie is not great, there will be some substance ...something for a mature audience. And I was very right.

The movie is not great cinema but the way it has been presented is definately very innovative and good. The unwinding of the storyline is different but doesn’t grip you, then leading you to a feel good ending. Abhishek’s character is unfairly treated at the end and his wife Rani’s character even tough strong is just left unfinished. What happens to them? Why no feel good time for this couple?

Acting by all is OK. It was an easy role for Devgan. Rani comes out with a good performance which is expected. Abhishek doesn’t suit the character yet even though he has tried hard. Vivek and Kareena didn’t have a tough role.

The music has the Rehman signature, but not so great. The song ’anjaana ...anjaani’ is an exception. Simply original music and great song!
