Zaheer Khan is certainly the future of Indian bowling attack.
Firstly, he has gor right physique. Tall, well built and left handed.... a good combination indeed!
Secondly, age is on his side. While Srinath’s ability and figures cannot be debated, he is not getting any younger every day. Zaheer is young, energetic and has fire in his belly.
Thirdly, he has ability to convert criticism into positive energy. Remember, this is an important asset for any sportsman to keep improving. And this is not commonly found in Indian cricketers. How many cricketers have shown early promise and frittered away, as they could not keep up the improvement.
Fourthly, he had been able to add lot of variety to his bowling. Deceptive slower one, good and consistent yorker, persistent and teasing line, wicket taking ability, good and accurate short one......and he is still adding on!
With Agarkar, Nehra not performing after initial talent and Srinath’s age showing up, I am certain Zaheer is the future of India’s attack.
I have not compared and talked about spinners because spinners on foreign pitches are not match winners!
