Yes Zaheer Khan has got pace moves ball both ways so does Nehra but both are injury prone.
When Zaheer debut in ICC in Nairobi he was bowling at 140 KMPH + /90MPH +.Nehra was bowling at 144KMPH.
But pace is not everything today if you close your eyes and think of 4 best fast bowlers in this planet it will be non other than Glenn Mc Grath , Shaun Pollock , Wasim and legend Walsh. Are they Fast bowlers but fast medium at most 135KMPH. But they are accurate and fools the batsmen to play a stupid shot. Mc Grath constantly fools Sachin and takes his prize wicket.Immaculate line and length and little swing does the trick you donot have to swing a yard to get wicket ashade swing is required which will force the batsman to play.
Zaheer is a shining star but more maturity will give him the wasim akram class. I donot like his long run up. Long run up donot necessarily mean good pace.
Wasim Akram bowled at extreme pace (in mid 80s) with few steps. Zaheer should take tips from Wasim bhai or in this hot sultry subcontinent he will burnout with that long runup.I saw Akram bowling at Edgbaston in 87 live. He was bowling with few steps and salim yousuf was standing few mtrs behind that Cornhill Paint on grass. The balls were flying like tracer bullet and thudded in Yousufs gloves.
Fast bowling is last shoulder power and strong wrist action.
Zaheer should develop that rather going for extravagant runup and that last leap.A Britt can afford that bcos of cold climate but in India it impossible.
Kudos Kapil Paaji whom I consider one of best bowlers in world manage to contuniously play every test ( one test rest we all the reason)for which Eden was on fire and riots.
Now I really appreciate Agarkar whom I consider quickest in India with small built and runup. He took Gibbs wicket of RSA at speed 149.9KMPH/94MPH and Kirsten was taken at second slip speed was 149KMPH.He can reverse swing too. Steve Waugh, Gilchrist, Ponting has great respect for Ajith and rank him high among indian fast bowlers.
