One of my friend wanted to have South Indian food on 22nd Nov10. We went to Zambar Restaurant in Ambiance mall, Gurgaon as I have read a good review about this restaurant in newspaper sometime back. We have ordered a South Indian Thali. Myself being a South Indian was very much disappointed with the food. Sambar and Rasam are pretty ordinary. Sambar tatses like a liquid moong + yellow dhal with little spices and Rasam tastes like hot Chilli and Pepper water. They claim that the chef is from South India. Papad was dripping with oil. South Indian Thali costed around Rs 520 including taxes per person.
Service was also not great. when we have complained about the food, staff has informed us that Chef would talk to us. Even after 20 min chef didnt turn up.
Except for ambiance nothing is great. Of course this also need to checked on a weekend when the restaurants in the mall would be buzzing with the weekend crowd.
