Bonjour L’ile Maurice...vous etes tres grentille!! That’s what Karan Johar had to say on Mtius when he started the show & if u’re wondering what that means, well it’s ’Good-morning
Mtius u’re very kind’....Now why good morning instead of evening it’s becoz the programme was held during the day(from 1p.m-6p.m) & was not LIVE on Zee t.v!! The LIC ZEE Cine Awards 2006 was a perfect n superb Award nite & a first show of it’s kind to be held in Mtius!!!
The stage(coral reef design)was beautifully designed and matched with it’s settings that is Mtius(the theme was ’Mauritius Masti’). Majority of Bollywood was present for the show(SRK, Rani, Priety, Salman, Rekha, Rishi Kapoor etc...) although the absence of Amitabh & Abhishek and some other personalities was felt but was covered-up by a superb performance of ShahRukh!!! I’ll thus say that had it not be for SRK, the show would’ve been a flop as other actors didn’t perform upto the mark!!!
The first song/performance of the show was simply superb!!! It was a prelude of old songs(variety) presented by various actors( Diya Mirza, TusharKapoor, Amrita Arora etc..).Diya & Amrita were looking simply great in Traditional Indian dress!!!
songs like ’Pyaar huaaa Ikraar hua ’rocked the stage’
On this I’d like to add that most of our actresses of nowadays are
making fool out of themselves by wearing Western dresses which simply
doesn’t suit them & make them look like desi CARTOOONS!!!!!! & this
fact was proved true when one watched them on ZEE Cine Awards in their
traditional costumes!!!!
The show was hosted by Karan Johar, Konkanna Sen(Coco-her nick name!!),
Diya Mirza, Gulshan Glover, Arjun Ramphal& SRK-turn by turn.
Other hosts/presenters(outside the show)were Tarana-which I feel was
an error as she didn’t present well enough & her dresses were total
mismatch & Sajid Khan-whom I feel should’ve also performed on the
stage instead of being only on backstage).
2 Winners of SAREGAMA Challenge 05 were also given opportunity to
sing in the show(I’m sorry I can’t remember their names)& they
sang the nominated(best songs) extremely well!!!

Among the actors who skipped the show were Lara Dutta, Thrashwarya Rai
(fans plz excuse but a thrash is always a thrash!!!), AB & fly, Kareena,
Raveena, Sunil Shetty & of course Aamir Khan(neway he never attends the
Award functions as he does not believe in them and I agree with him
to some extent that these functions are biased, for e.g Was PAHELI
a movie that deserved to be nominated???? or where were the beautiful
songs of Abhijeet in the nominations (like ’Ishq chupta nahin’,
it was 100% better than the Kaal dhamaal nonsense!!! or even ’laal
Dupatta’ of ’Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’ just start humming these
beautiful numbers & u’ll realise what nonsense are ’Kajra re’ and
’dus bahaane’.....)
Also why was Paheli sent to Oscars instead of Black, despite knowing
that it was a super-flop & will never make it.....the Indians lost a
golden opportunity of scoring at the Oscars!!!!!
Conclusion: An interesting Award nite, well planned & executed by
the ZEE authorities & they deserve an applause for that.
An exceptional performance by SRK that was the ’life’of the show!!!
So if u haven’t watched it yet, what r u waiting for???just get hold
of it’s CD asap & enjoy!!!!
