NCO appealed to me through a local consultant as having a leading brand American Express LOB which was sort of on the lines of Veldone 6M ago, hot property considering captive centers are far lesser & profitable then they once were. Except for JP Morgan Services, 3G, IBM Daksh Business Process, there are hardly any more worth talking about. The attraction was the brand, high paying salaries, claims were for Rs.30K which was amazing & a high age tolerance, around 42 years. It was an opportunity too good to be true.
However, all that glitters isnt gold now is it! Having been to the company, it now transpires that NCO is a former client of Zenta which has started its own operations albeit a year ago. Although the pomp & show flatter but in the end, it all deceives. The company is starting to learn the tricks of the trade & has some way to go especially in its treatment of vintage, experienced & other company people, I tell you!
Id been under the impression that there would be V&A + Operations round but they sort of found it very convenient to mix both as one meeting. Fancy that! I happened to meet a trainer who I found to be very junior to me besides being a greenhorn. What happened later is pretty obvious, I probably oversold myself or seemed to be much more qualified than the role required.
Another thing that struck me as odd is all these BPOs cannot stomach anyone with a PG degree, so you have anything beyond mere graduation, & out you go. Also the salary advertised is a teaser as youre just not able or shouldnt quote that salary during the interview, you should just toe the line or be alright with what they provide, quite strange & beguiling!
Unsure what facilities actually are provided by NCO! Canteen Services are outsourced, building is partly warm & bare shell type, some floors unoccupied, under construction, vacant wings! Distance is also a dampener, being based out of Powai, it might suit the people of Central suburbs more. If youre not selected, you can try again in 3M, thats the rule but how much will change in such a short time you wonder!
All in all, it was a crazy experience & a forgettable one at that! If a brand like American Express has to associate themselves with a hived entity of Zenta, then they surely must be doing something right to retain the account! That being the case, its a crown of thorns for if the process wanders or transfers itself from this firm, then God help NCO because they will surely struggle to get back on their feet. It seriously makes a dent in the work environment, job security & career progress goals & are likely to lead you anywhere
