I hereby furnish my views about the company "ION Exchange (India) Ltd" as follows.


In my above house ION Exchange (India) Ltd, R.O plant with capacity of tank 5 lits was installed on  14-11-05. The cost of the plant was Rs.15500. The unit was fixed to purify chennai Metro water. During the warranty period of one year various filters were replaced at consumer cost. Leakages of the unit was also noticed during the period. During the warranty period the candle filter was replaced on 05-10-2006 for a cost of Rs.290/. Again the candle and carbon and sediment filters were replaced for a cost of Rs.650 on 11-11-2006. So during the warranty period itself a miniumum of Rs.940 was spent for replacement of parts by the consumer in addition to the cost of unit of Rs.


Totally Rs.  for purifying Chennai Metro Water excluding the cost of water to be paid to MMWSSB. But the company has not spent anything towards the maintenance with warranty period. This is very costly for a middle class people to purify drinking water excluding the cost of water. Moreover the service of the company was not adequate.


Regarding Annual Maintenance, after the warranty period of one year, the company advised to execute annual maintenance contract with them about a cost of Rs.3000. including material cost. The company mechanic after checking the condition of the unit reported me to replace the main filter unit for a cost of Rs.2500/. He also insisted me to replace the same for Rs.2500/ then only annual maintenance contract agreement for a cost of about Rs.3000/ will be executed including material cost. Then I contacted the top management and informed the above matter. He also insisted the same.


Is it justice for a company to insist the consumer to replace the element in a good condition and pay Rs.2500 and then to execute annual maintenance agreement including materials cost. Is it not penalising the customer.


But I decided and executed annual maintenance service contract for Rs.980 (without material cost) on 14-04-2007. But the service of the company during this period was also not satisfactory. The main filter which was suggested by the company to replace for Rs.2500/ before executing the maintenance contract was still in working condition.


Hence the wrong assessment of top management and thereby penalising the customer and poor maintenance by the company reveals the quality of the people in the company and the company as a whole.
