Zerodha is the first discount broker of India, so the first question in your mind arrises what is a discount broker and how it is different from full-time broker?
Well the answer for that is "A discount broker is the one who carries your sell and buy orders at less rates than the full-time brokers, but they do such at the cost of investment advice which full time brokers provide but discount broker do not provide"
So talking about Zerodha, they have excellent trading platform in the form of "Kite" which is also available for mobiles with the name of "Kite", which is very user friendly and easy to use. Apart from that they have trading application "Pi" which is one of the most useful application for charts and patterns and they have "Q-Zerodha" as their back office which have an insight of your trades.
They have the lowest brokerage charges with zero brokerage for "Equity and mutual fund investment and "F&O and commodity training for flat Rs. 20"
So above mentioned are the things you will get from zerodha but what you will be not getting is:-
-You cannot apply for IPO in Zerodha, but this can be overcome by the banks, like I am using my SBI account for buying IPO’s.
-You will not get the advice for the trades as you get with the Full Time Brokers
-There is stamp duty imposed by govt. which is different for different states, for many states it is exempted but for me my home state is HP so I will be charged 50 Rs. for the transactions done in one day each for BSE and NSE according to the exchange you are trading.
Conclusion:-
If you are a beginner and need investment ideas or you are uncomfortable in starting then you should use some full time brokers, but if you do your own research and comfortable with the market and you have knowledge then you should definitely go for Zerodha.
