You can read this review on Zest as a continuation of my review on TravelGuru. After booking the package for 2Nights/3Days for Rs.6500/- with Zest-Kodai(Zest@CockersWalk), I sent a mail to Zest to hear from them that my reservation has been confirmed. I got a prompt reply from their corporate office from Mr.Vikas Dadoo, confirming my booking and also giving me the contact number of Ms.Jayanthi, if I need any assistance. I travelled to kodai on april 1, 2007 with my wife and my 7 month old son Nithin. I booked my holiday between april 1 and april 3rd, which is a off season (season at kodai starts from april 15th).
The resort is located right next to Cockers Walk (the resort is known as Mahindra guest house among the locals), which is almost the centre of kodai (I had full signal in my cell phone), but located in a very peaceful corner. The first impression of the resort from outside was not very amazing I should say. The moment we got down from our cab, there came a gentleman from the front office, greeting us. I showed him the online booking details. Within next 5 minutes we were inside our room. (Im not Exaggerating anything), yes that really was within 5 minutes.
The room was amazing (I think the room number was 115).
Very spacious, had a balcony with a beautiful view of cloudy mountains and had a woody finish interiors. There was a wall mounted flat TV, Worldspace Radion, Hometheatre system, DVD player, Complimentary Tea/coffee making facility etc, a Double bed, Sofa set, Dining Table, Room heater etc. The staffs were very friendly. Since the resort had very few rooms (11 in total I think), there was a personal touch in the hospitality. The restaraunt served very good quality food.
The taste of the food was very good. But only problem here was, that they lacked variety on the menu. I also feel its little costly (Rs. 300 per person, for Breakfast) if not covered in your package.
They had lot of activities, in which guests can take part for some extra bucks. The activities include cycling, Trekking etc. (which we didnt try because of our little son, so I cant comment on it). We could completely relax ourselves for 3 days and completely enjoyed the ambience and the comforts of the resort. It was one of the best holidays we have had, next to our honeymoon at Club mahindra resorts at munnar.
Dear friends, from my last experience with Zest, Im giving them a 5 star rating. But please be aware that I also read some reviews, mentioning about the poor service of Club mahindra, Kodai for its members from other sites(please note that its not Zest, Zest is a new venture from club mahindra).
So I might say we were extremely lucky to book our holiday with Zest when they opened up newly and that too on a off season. During the season the things may slightly change, but I feel that they will live up to their repuation. So please try it out.
