I boarded AI flight from New Delhi to Shanghai Via Bangkok. The flight took off from New Delhi at 7.30 AM and reached Shanghai at 7.15 PM local time (i.e. 4.45 PM IST). I was expecting that transit passengers will be allowed to get down at Bangkok but we were made to sit in the aircraft itself. The breakfast served was fine. The lunch was not upto expectations still I enjoyed.
I came to Hangzhou, Zhejiang in the first week of september 2004. It is captal of Zhejiang province. I travelled by Car to reach Hangzhou. Hangzhou is nearly 180 Kms by road from Shanghai. it took almost 2.30 hrs to reach my destination. U can reach either by train, bus or taxi. the journey is exciting and u can see the big and beautiful roads, The traffic was heavy like Delhi ring road.
I have come here for an assignment at Zhejiang University, Hangzhou.
The city is beautiful and exciting. Every new day brings some thing new.
The food for Indians will b a problem as U get to eat only rice. many vegetables are also available.
try the eggplant, potato and egg bhurji its really nice.
for pure veggies China is not the place to live in. U have to struggle alot.
The oil in food is heavy, so better be prepared.
for nonveg eaters (like me who eat chicken + fish ) its little bit easy
Its nice feeling to come to a different country, new culture, new people.
The accomodation at hotel is around 300 RMB per day (1500 rs ) in a decent hotel.
The palces to visit are West Lake, six harmonies pagoda, jade spring, Lingyin temple.
there are very short mountains , u can trek along.
Chinese are very nice and friendly people and if u can make friends u can enjoy a lot.
There are Mcdonald’s , KFC, Pizza Hut so u can try these as well..
There is an Indian Restaurant called ’’ Haveli ’’. You can try that too. the food is around 30 rmb per meal (150 rs)
