A WELCOME CHANGE
For me, the trailors and all the advertisements of Zinda as well as the free flowing music were more than enough to go for the movie. Even with some of my friends saying against it, I went for this movie, and I was certainly not disappointed.
Even if the movie should have had more logic, I loved the way the way in which the movie was presented. Well, who doesnt love changes? Especially some good ones like this. The music of the movie may be one of the best, with Yeh Hai meri Kahani and Zinda Hoon Mein
Even if this movies is based on the movie Oldboy, the way in which the movie is made suitable for the viewers is cool. As most of the viewers may not have watched the original movie, this is certainly going to be an even better experience.
The stories of vengeance have always been in the movie industry, but this one is just more than a simple vengeance. This time, the suspense stays throughout the movie, and it will take a lot of time for the viewers even to know who is taking revenge against whom. I just love it when a movie is able to keep the suspense.....
BACK TO THE MOVIE
Balajit (Sanjay Dutt) is living a happy life with his wife Nisha (Celina Jaitley) at Bangkok. But the tide changes as he is kidnapped for some unknown reasons and is put in a dark room with only one television as his companion. He only human being he manages to see is the one who comes to give him food, but that too only the foot.
His wife is murdered, and he lives fourteen years in the dark room until one day he finds himself in a coffin at the middle of a helipad! But soon he finds out that this game is far from over as he is supposed to find the one who has made his life almost worthless, someone who wants to take revenge on him, for something that he himself hasnt yet figured out.
As he moves on his mission, he meets Jenny (Lara Dutta), one of the most unusual taxi drivers. After some hard work, he gets to the master brain, a rich industrialist, Rohit Chopra (John Abraham), who hadnt finished even the first half of his revenge yet. Even as Balajit find the reason behind his sufferings, it may have been just too late, because everything was planned by one man who would do anything for revenge!
THE PERFORMANCE
Sanjay Dutt shines in the movie as a desperate man who is supposed to suffer for some mysterious reasons and also as the angry man who wants to get to the root of all these events. He has transformed well from a tortured man to the punisher (this guy interrogates the bad guys just like in the game Punisher!) in the next half quite well. As usual, he does justice to his role. I just feel that the dark atmosphere and the story of revenge is something that suits him upto the maximum!
John Abraham looks cool in the outfit, and he is certainly becoming a better actor each and everyday. He seemed to give life to the revenge seeking character in a simple, stylish way. As he plays almost a negative character (even if not completely) he looks almost perfect. His looks and his eyes seemed to speak more for him. The last sequence that he and Sanjay Dutt goes through is rocking. Even the final dialogue from him was a bit disappointing, the way in which he said that shows how much he have got immersed in the character he was playing.
Celina Jaitley comes and goes in such a speed that we will only remember about her when we see her photos in the last scene. May be she was included in the posters and wallpapers of the movie only to increase the star cast.
Lara Dutta also didnt seemed to have much to do around there other than a few hot scenes and adding a bit of a screaming effect. Well, she did that well, wandering without aim in a movie which gives her very low chances, after all this movie is concentrated on two men only.
TIME TO WATCH
After all, I am certain that this is one of the best thrillers from Bollywood, and the way in which it is presented was awesome. but still, all viewers may not enjoy the movie, and this one may be extremely hard to digest because of the new trend and the dark theme.
The action sequences of the movie has made Sanjay Dutt almost an invincible man, this certainly is not the world of Matrix, is it? The movie has happened to be mysterious all the way, this certainly is not the way in which we may have expected the movie to progress after watching the promos - the movie certainly is a different experience.
This certainly is one of the most violent movies (may be drilling through human bodies and tooth picking using hammers are the new upcoming trends!), but it has managed to give the viewers, what they have come for, a classy thriller! This certainly may be considered as the best effort of Sanjay Gupta (I hate Kaante even if Musafir was not bad). Sometimes it is nice to be unusual.....
