Hollywood coming!
That’s the morale you get after seeing this movie. If you dub the movie in English; it’s a typical Hollywood stuff. Extreme cinematography has been used in a very passionate manner by director cum cinematographer Sanjay Gupta. Seeing the cinematography, somewhere you may find shades of the film Karm, a flop release of John Abraham. The locations in Bangkok are also perfectly chosen (some of them even resemble muddy places of our metro cities). Another USP of the film is the usage of dark chrome colours. The film seems to be dark…thereby setting a perfect environment for the actors to perform especially Sanjay Dutt.
The movie starts with a happy beginning with Mahesh Manjrekar (Joy), a school friend of Sanjay Dutt (Bala) touching the comic tune with his ‘Kaate’ type dialogues. Everything is well in the life of Celina-Sanjay Dutt untill Celina becomes pregnant. Rest of the movie is all Sanjay Dutt and John Abraham. Suddenly, the mood of the movie changes and Sanjay Dutt is seen locked in one cell ‘going mad’ eating the only dish given to him. As years pass by, he commands his frustration and pledges to take revenge from his captor. For this, he learns Kung-fu while he is in captivity (HOW? For that you have see the movie). After 14 years, the exile is over. Once out, he meets Lara Dutta, who is an Indian taxi driver in Bangkok (the taxi being Toyota Corolla). With the help of clues he successfully traces his captor, John Abraham. After meeting his captor, he is told that he has 4 days to know the reason for his captivity. Rest of the story describes the reason, revenge for his captivity and Sanjay Dutt’s reunion with his daughter.
In addition to superb acting by Sanjay Dutt and John Abraham, there is the sound track of the movie. The song composed by ‘STRINGS’ is fast and suits the pace of the movie. The movie is short compared to other bollywood creations. The pace of first half is quite brisk and you don’t even know when the interval arrives. A mentionable fact - Girls in the picture are there just to give the element of feminism.
So, what all you will MISS if you don’t see the movie though it’s not a typical entertainer?
Sanjay Dutt’s Kung-fu style and undoubtedly, the ill treatment done to human flesh. It’s also a picture where there are no guns, only Chinese swords.
