On 02 Aug 2012 I got email intimation that my order had been shipped and a tracking number (AWB of Aramex Couriers) was also mentioned. On 3rd Aug I tried tracking my order but the Aramex webpage wouldn’t accept the tracking number as was given to me by Zoomin. Each time I tried I got ‘invalid tracking number’ message . This continued till the 6th of August 2012.
That was when this farcical ordeal started. I wrote an email to Zoomin. On 07 August 2012 I received a reply from Zoomin stating that there was some internal problem at Aramex so that the tracking number couldn’t be updated by them but that stood rectified. Zoomin felt sorry for that.
I tried once again but in vain. I was convinced that my order hadn’t been shipped at all . Aramex, as I know having got many consignments delivered by them at our address, are thorough professional. They wouldn’t forget entering a tracking number into their system provided the thing was handed over to them.
Then I decided to make a call to the customer care section. One gentleman told me that the consignment which was given to the courier on the 1st August had returned back undelivered. When I asked why it was so the person said that he will enquire and get back to me. He took down my phone number and I started waiting for a response.
Nobody cared to call back and I once again rang up. This time a lady greeted me and I narrated the whole story to her. She told me that the product had not come back but was in fact out for delivery that day (3 pm, 07 Aug) and I’d be receiving the same very soon.
Nobody turned up to deliver the packet. The next day (08 Aug 2012) I tried calling them up but couldn’t connect even after holding the line for 20 minutes at a stretch. “All zoomin customer care associates are busy right now” was the standard AVR I got to hear every 3 minutes or so.
No delivery even on 08 Aug. 2012. The courier boy who was out to deliver the consignment the last afternoon hadn’t reached our residence.
On 09 August 2012 I was lucky to get my call across and I spoke with another gentleman from Zoomin. I was told that the packet was still ‘roaming around’ in Bombay and that he would look into it and get back to me. And this time the gentleman returned the call after about 5 hours with the information that due to heavy showers in Bombay the address label got washed out so the courier returned the packed back. It was being repacked for shipment.
That was the story till 3 pm on 09 Aug 2012.
I don’t know if I’ll get the product in good condition, if at all. When a high value product can get rain drenched in warehouses of either the supplier or the courier to the extent that the address label becomes illegible / unclear, that speaks volumes about sincerity of the people in that business.
That is my experience (so far, as the saga continues) of shopping with ZOOMIN. I think this can happen to anyone.
Shall be updating the story as it unfolds.
