Survival of the 'I wont quit' ers!

I have worked with Zycus Infotech for quite some time. It is a nice place to work. Its Line Of Business is in Spend Management and it does excel in that field in the business. Thanks to the R&D, Software, Pilot, SDT,  PCS, and Support Teams. Their business is growing in huge leaps because of their AI based tools patented for quite a long time, and also due to aggressive marketing and achievement in project contracts.

This lead to an expansion in the revenue and also the number of projects. In short their business grew. This resulted in heavy workload for the analysts, software and support teams. People very often spend their nights and weekends at their workstations. Its bit tedious to work at Zycus sometimes.Office timing is flexible and u can come to office anywhere between 7 am to 3 pm. Work for 9 hours or at least 6 hrs in some urgent cases. and if required you can work from home through remote log in. There are many Employee Engagement programmers also.

Teams go out for an outing once in every 2 months. Once in a year a trecking picnic is organised at Khandala or Lonavala or some nearby holiday destinations. There are Employee appreciation programmes also. In every monthly meet you will find people bagging up "Goody" certificates for their performance. It is also accompanied by Sodexo Gift Coupons :) The CEO is a very down to earth man, who used to travel by local train to the old office site which was at Nirlon (Goregaon), the idea behind this was, the time taken to walk down the way to office from the station was utilized for thinking up new ideas!

Apart from all these there been a moderate attrition rate. People found it mis-alligned to their backgrounds, experienced with what they actually did. mechanical engineers are hired for their domain expertise, but only 2% of that expertise is utilized. Rest is all about firing query and data management, which distracts core engineers. But a cakewalk for the IT or softy background guys.

So many of the Mech and Electrical Enggs have walked off within few months and sometimes without any notice also. Zycus is very resistive in relieving its employees early, and insists on notice periods. To prevent further attrition Zycus has introduced bonds to be signed by employees before joining. This might be little frustrating for the ones who would want to leave, get back to their old field or want to join some organization for better prospects. So before joining keep the things in mind.

It is a easy job to be a Spend Analyst but its not easy to withstand it if you do not like it. Job security persists, since there are very less number of people with spend management expertise and Zycus is in need of huge manpower. So they do not lay off their resources. Salary is a bit low at entry level for spend analysts. Software freshers can get around 3.2L per annum as a start. Marketing guys earn even more. Analysts earn around 2.2L if he is a fresher. Guys with one year of experience can get anything between 2.8 to 3.2 lakhs. It totally depends how you negotiate. And discussing your package with your colleagues is a strict no no. So you are left to repent for more when u come to know that a fellow with less experience is earning more than you at the same position and with same performance.

If you are a fresher, you can demand upto 3L, if you are experience for one year ask for 4 L and accordingly. Senior people can calculate according to their current packages. So best of luck.
