The correct procedure of calculating mileage is tankful to tankful method, mileage calculated on the basis of points on fuel meter is not a correct way. Tankful to tankful method is explained in MSIL website,

Dear Mr Balaji Got covered almost everything under insurance except 50%for tail light,bumper and small plastic parts that costed me around 4000 or so. Added full wheel caps for 500 , pioneer deck with warranty , 4 original speakers fitted in door that costed around 7500 altogether, remote lock m read more...
