While thousands of fans were eagerly awaiting to bid adieu to the cricket stalwart Sachin Tendulkar in his 200th test match being held at Wankhede stadium, only 5000 would be the lucky ones to do so. The stadium has a capacity of 33000 of which only 5000 tickets will be available to the public and the rest are commitment tickets. These commitment tickets include tickets reserved for MCA’s Garware Club and the various gymkhanas - Bombay, Hindu, Islam, Parsee, Catholic. Among the 5000 tickets, prices of 3000 tickets have been divided into three categories Rs.500, Rs.1000 and Rs.2500; and 1500 tickets are priced at Rs.10000. These will be season tickets.
Since the demands of tickets for Master Blaster’s game were high, MCA decided to sell the tickets online at Kyazoonga.com to avoid the over the counter rush. One person will be allowed to book only two tickets. The site was scheduled to start selling tickets on 11 November - 11 am which crashed immediately and hasn’t been restored yet. When the fans who went to buy the tickets at stadiums were told that the tickets would be solely sold online, they created a commotion. Police force had to be used to disburse the crowd.
As far as preparations for the farewell of the “God of Cricket” are concerned, five tickets will be printed with each day with Sachin’s photo playing different shots on both sides to make for collector’s item. A pure gold coin weighing 10 grams adorned with Tendulkar's photo and 200th Test written below it on one side and the MCA lion with Mumbai Cricket Association written around it on the other will be used for the toss. 1000 gold-plated replicas of the coin will given to dignitaries as a memento. The legend’s records will be highlighted on stadium’s rooftop.
