Wanting my kids to grow up to be good people is one thing. Having them grow up to be intelligent, as well, is quite another. I believe that kids need direction when they're young and impressionable; they are extremely susceptible to outside influence and one should make sure that these influences affect them positively. This is one of the reasons I am a huge supporter of edutainment on television. Edutainment teaches through entertainment – quite simply, it makes learning, fun. My experience with TV edutainment began with the Bournvita Quiz Contest, a show that all my friends remember as the BQC – general knowledge questions, a charismatic host and regular celebrity appearances. The participants were children from school which made it fully relatable plus the questions enabled us to learn a little about multiple subjects. It is a bit sad that shows like the BQC don't really feature in the multitude of shows on television --- apparently they don't have much of an audience. I can only hope that changes as I'd love to have the BQC back on my screen
