TWO THRILLERS RELEASING TOMORROW!
Following the debacle of last week’s Toh Baat Pakki and Click, all eyes now are on tomorrow’s two big releases, Karthik Calling Karthik (KCK) and Teen Patti (TP). After these films, there would be no biggie releasing till April end as it is (wrongly) assumed that people don’t go to theatres when IPL is going on!
My take on these two films:
KARTHIK CALLING KARTHIK: The promos of this Farhan Akhtar-Deepika Padukone starrer has clicked with the youngsters. Also, the title of the film and that the protagonist in the film getting a call from himself has made everyone curious. “How can that happen?” they are asking themselves and will be surely catching the flick to get the answer! However, such kind of a psychological thriller might not be accepted by all, especially the masses. Till now very few films in this genre has succeeded (classic example-Bhool Bhulaiyaa). Hence, the commercial prospects for KCK shall be bright only if it gets a great response. It would surely get a better opening than Teen Patti, the other release.
TEEN PATTI: TP gives us a chance to see two ‘living legends’ together-Amitabh Bachchan and Sir Ben Kingsley! The plot seems similar to the Hollywood film 21 but the film has managed to make its presence felt. It also stars Madhavan and it marks the debut of Shakti Kapoor’s daughter Shraddha along with three other newcomers. If one goes by the promos, then the film seems to be a thrilling heluva ride. Like every other ‘good-looking’ film, TP also might turn out to be a damp squib. Also, it is directed by Leena Yadav whose last film Shabd (Sanjay Dutt, Aishwarya Rai, Zayed Khan) wasn’t well received by the audience. However, nothing can stop the film from becoming a hit if it gets a great response to the BO!
As for me, I am definitely going for KCK. Farhan Akhtar-produced films have always impressed me and hence I won’t miss it! As for TP, I’ll wait and watch how it fares!

36 YR OLD FILM FINALLY SEES THE LIGHT OF THE DAY!
Filmmaking is a tedious process involving lots of risks. The worst thing that can happen to a producer is that his film not getting a timely release. We all know how films get a release after2, 3, 4 or even 5 years later. Needless to say, such films have little chances of working at the BO. But imagine a film releasing 36 years after it was completed? Believe it or not, Aahat-Ek Ajib Kahani, completed in 1974 is finally hitting the screens tomorrow in 2010!
The film stars Jaya Bhaduri (she wasn’t a Bachchan at that time, remember?!), Vinod Mehra, Amrish Puri and Dharmendra in a special appearance. Jaya plays a blind girl, Vinod Mehra is a cameraman and Amrish Puri is the villain in the film. The film was originally produced by Franklin Fernandes who passed away after the filming was completed. Then due to some reasons which are not revealed yet, the film was laying the cans all these years. Finally, S P Seth took the initiative to release the film even though both Amrish Puri and Vinod Mehra are now no more.
Aahat is now releasing tomorrow in very few theatres. Of course, the film has no chance unfortunately at the BO. But those who aren’t interested in the other two releases tomorrow do watch Aahat and let us know how it is!
