After'Octocopter' mini-drones, Amazon once again has tried to revolutionize its delivery system.

As a step towards it, last month, it gained a patent scheme described as “anticipatory shipping”, which is designed to cut delivery times and ship products by predicting what buyers are going to buy even before they click on'buy order'.

Based on previous orders, product searches, wish lists, shopping cart contents, returns and customers' online shopping patterns, Amazon plans to box and ship products that it expects customers in a specific area will want.

The new delivery system is anticipated in the following way:

1) One or more items will be packed and dispatched for delivery to a specific'geographical area' . Now when the parcel is in transit, the system will recognize the particular delivery address when purchased by a customer.

2)'Speculatively shipping' will also re-route packages based on proximity of potential users. It also claims that the parcel would remain in transit until some customer decides to buy it.

The patent also says, “Speculative shipping of packages may enable more sophisticated and timely management of inventory items, for example by allowing packages to begin flowing towards potential customers in advance of actual orders,”

3)Taking the worst case scenario where the behavior purchasing pattern fails: if the data analysis suggests that a particular consumer likes the product and the cost of returning exceeds, then it can give it aways as a gift which will also help to build customer loyalty.
