Most kids plug into the world of television long before they enter school. Of course, television, in moderation, can be a good thing. No doubt about it — TV can be an excellent educator and entertainer. But restricting TV to be used as the only form of entertainment can have detrimental effects than any advantages that we can think of. Children's advocates assert that while no TV is the best solution, the next best solution is the form of edutainment that kids can view. That doesn’t leave us with many options for the kids as the kind of programming kids are exposed to nowadays, are anything closer to being edutainment. The last of this genre was Bournvita Quiz Contest on mainstream TV, way back in 2006 & since the time this show has gone off air, there hasn’t been any show as successful as BQC to challenge the kids, entertain them & educate them in the process. Kaun Bangea Crorepati was another success but seeing an elated kid as the winner winning a trophy purely basis his knowledge, instead of luck, makes him a bigger hero to me. Seeing the dearth of quality programming, should we not recall the golden era of Bournvita Quiz contest? We definitely need it back.
