Mankind has achieved more in the last 100 years than in the 700 or 800 preceding years...

If we imagine ourselves in the shoes of our ancestors, what would have been our reactions to technological marvels which we now take so much for granted? A century ago, nobody could have imagined that it would not only be possible to speak to another person at the far end of the world through electrical impulses, but we may also see and interact with each other in real time...

The idea of commercial airliners which allow for scores of people to travel rapidly through the air at high altitudes in comfort & luxury would have been incomprehensible to any person born a century ago...in fact, most of the technological inventions that we use without giving a thought as to how it came to be, would have been consigned to the realms of wishful fantasies in days of the past...

Continuing on this train of thought, let us try to imagine the world of the future & paint it in broad strokes...we can look at the past for inspiration and conclude that technological advances have been increasing their speed rapidly...

In due course of time, humans will start leading more & more sterile lives inside tight, antiseptic cocoons...the rigorous & time consuming travel that we now experience regularly will be a thing of the forgotten past...instead of going physically to places, where their presence is required, men will instead send their holographs for functions, inaugurations, meetings & such...in case somebody is required to be physically present at another place, he will be teleported in no time at all...teleportation will be the conventional & prevalent form of travel as well as for transportation of goods...

Before the advent of automobiles, humans were accustomed to travelling over large stretches on horseback, chariots or on foot without giving a thought to the effort & time wasted and the risks involved in such endeavors...today we shake our heads in wonder & bewilderment at the primitive standards of life people endured much before we were born, considering ourselves fortunate...

We spend a fair amount of our life in eating and drinking after which our body expends more time & energy in digesting the food and expelling waste...as life gets more hectic & schedules shrink, the necessity of providing instant nourishment to our bodies will lead to creation of food capsules, maybe gulped down once or twice in a day...Activities such as cooking of food, sitting down to eating meals & washing up will be considered as wasteful pursuits and will be indulged maybe only by rich, eccentric millionaires...
