Robert: (Screaming) Scoundrels!!! Don’t you have manners? What fun is it to trouble an old man like me, bet you would be in pieces if it wasn’t for this wheelchair.

Amanda: (Pleading) Robert, please calm down. They are kids—you can’t expect them to behave like mature adults. You should rather be proud of the fruits that grow in our garden—they are so yummy that people just can’t resist stealing them.

Robert: If they are tasty, doesn’t mean they got to steal it!

Amanda: Let it be, you know if our grandson Josh would be alive, he would have been friends with these kids, troubling you and other folks out here.

Robert: Don’t you start talking about that accident again; you know how to spoil my day, you know it well.

Amanda: Please stop saying that! You know it hurts me too, but that doesn’t change the reality. I am bed-ridden and you are on a wheel chair, we lost our only son, a beautiful daughter-in-law and their only child. It’s just us living with each other now. Talking about it only brings us closer to the reality; unlike you, I chose to accept it.

Robert: Amanda! Just stop it, will you?

Amanda: That very day our life changed, from a small happy family that we were back then, you reduced us; you reduced me to a lifeless body and yourself to a crippled human being.

Robert: It was not my fault; it was a dark night and I couldn’t see a thing.

Amanda: It is your fault! If it wasn’t you, who had been drinking that night, everything would have been just the same.

Robert: Good lord! How many times have I told you that I was sober and was in my senses.

Amanda: You weren’t! You know it very well.

Robert: Don’t you think I regret that accident? Don’t you think I miss my family? Don’t you think I miss the very gift that made all of us special? Tell me Amanda!

Amanda: I think that you were out of your mind since you started flying. I think that you were too self-centred to look after your family. I think you were too arrogant to ignore the very fact that we are human and we all are bound to die. And I think you are a very egoistic person to accept that you are flawed. You are flawed, Robert, just like all of us; just like our maid, just like our neighbours, just like those innocent children stealing fruits, and just like those criminals you helped putting behind bars. You Mr Robert Lobo are a history, you are no longer the super human people called and worshiped ten years ago. You are now an old man, who can’t move more than ten feet! No one else but you, and only you, are responsible for it.

Robert: What do you want me to do? Tell me, can I bring our past back? Can I undo what’s done already?

I did what I thought was right, helping the authorities to reduce the crime rate, preventing disasters, being an honest man, are those my crimes?

I know if I would have been sober and in my senses, that accident would have been averted. Those gang members could do no harm to my family if I could foresee the situation I’m putting my family into.

But I’m flawed, yes you heard it right, I AM FLAWED!!!

If you think it doesn’t hurt me, let me tell you it hurts me the most. I have lost everything I built; lost everything I loved, lost everything I ever cared for. My gift of flying, touching the sky, feeling the wind on my face, playing with those birds in the sky, all lost. All lost in one moment of intoxication. Do you know how that would feel?

All my life, I have been doing the good things, the just things. Living life by an example, and following the law by the society, using my powers to help everyone around, many who whom I don’t even know.

Amanda: It ok, Robert. It’s my fault that I got a bit cranky. You know how these medicines act funny in the body. Calm down, will you?

Robert: No, you are right. It my fault that I loved my city so much that I didn’t secure my family first, but went headfirst to deal with criminals.

Amanda: I said I’m sorry, please calm down. You and I are here for each other. It won’t help if we start fighting with each other. Will that help us survive through this old age?

Robert: You know, it hurts a lot when people turn their back on us. We were the “Star family”, when I could fly; they treated us like their own. Be it Christmas, Easter, or any other occasion, we were honoured by the people and the Government.

And now that we are of no use to them, I can’t catch criminals or fly to save people from drowning; they ignore us. Leave us to ourselves when we need support.

How selfish can our friends be? How selfish can people be? How can they ignore us when we have done so much for them?

Amanda: Don’t do this to yourself, I beg you.

Robert: My gift of flying is more of a curse, it’s more of a poison, which killed us moment by moment, and it’s still doing a good job.

I feel worthless!

Amanda: So do I. Living like this is no worse than a curse.

Can you do me a favour?

Robert: Yeah! Anything for you my love!

Amanda: Kill me! I don’t wish to live like this anymore. Remove the cord giving me life and let me rest in peace.

Robert: Are you crazy? You can’t talk like this! Don’t even think of leaving me. I can’t live without you. Lone thought of letting you die.

Amanda: Is it worth living here? Is it worth still breathing when or kids are with the Lord smiling at us, waiting for us to meet them. Be a family again.

We could fly again, once again together. This time away from this mean world, this time towards our family in heaven.

Come join me!
