It was 6.30 P.M in the evening. I could see it was nearing dawn. Normally, I work out till late in the night. But today was an exception. I did not have to work but had to attend a classroom training. So, could wind up as early as 6 P.M.

After chitchatting with my friends, I took a share auto to go to Porur. The driver was indeed driving carefully for a change. But when it reached Dominoz in Porur, one guy wanted to get down and asked the driver to halt. He got down and handed Rs.10/- for which the driver immediately mentioned the actual price which is at Rs. 15/-

Before the guy can search for his money in his pockets, the vehicles behind started honking. So, the autodriver moved a little ahead and stopped to receive the balance amount. The boy had already vanished.

The autodriver had no choice but to start his vehicle with sad face, when the police Innova vehicle came at zooming speed and stopped in front of this share auto. The policeman waved to the driver to stop the vehicle without starting, and got down from his vehicle. Within moments the policeman was using abusive language at the driver, like 'Yenda naaye, yenda?..etc.. and asked him to come near the police vehicle. I could see that he was being bribed and left out. Was shocked to listen to the words by the Police. Did I have any choice, but kept quiet.

I got down in Junction to take another shareauto to my place. The rule of share-auto is that, he needs atleast minimum people to get in to leave the place. So, he was waiting for few more people to get in his auto. From nowhere, I could see the Police officer with Latti came and beat the vehicle. Again, the same scene continued . The officer was rude at the driver. The Driver apologized for nothing and immediately started the vehicle to flee from the place.

Was thinking, if this is the scene on a daily basis in the late evening? Was I not seeing this as normally I take my office cab which drops me home?. Is this the daily plight of these autodrivers?. Normally, I hear people complaining on autodrivers behavior.. But what I saw is.........!!!!!!
