I think world still has the wrong impression about India because the way India is portrayed in the Hollywood movies is only bizarre. Like we got to see in the recent Academy award winning film "Slumdog Millionaire" which featured Indian actors like Irfan Khan, Anil Kapoor, Frieda Pinto & Dev Patel.
Amitabh Bachchan wrote in his blog that the world still feels we are slum dogs, we still live in dirt, we are poor and hungry people. And I agree with Mr. Bachchan entirely because the views of being a third world hasn't changed for them.
I am seeing people going crazy and celebrating something that we shouldn't be part and proud of. The only aspect we should be accepting is the music. Though I feel it was not Rehman's best work but if it is appreciated globally than why not be happy for it. All I mean is that this is getting extremely boring and frustrating to see the same kind of image over and over of our nation and I wouldn't be the one endorsing such image no matter what amount I get or what popularity I get. We have reached Moon, for god sake also show the other side as well.
Do I disagree with the things like we still have poverty and people are living in slums? No, I don't. But there is other side of India as well. Why would someone only choose to show dirt, pollution, population, theft and loot in the movie? And look, some of us are really proud of being portrayed as so. Aren't we known to produce some of the best doctors, scientists and engineers in the world? Common on people, whats wrong?
I am not buying that crap, that the script required such and such things. If only script required than create fictional things in your own country and show it to the world.
