Labour Day or May Day is been observed across the globe today. And being a part of the entire movement, as labours essentially we are, I thought I must share few words with dear MSians.

Unlike other significant days, like Valentine's, New Year or any XYZ day, Labour Day carries a different meaning for every nation; mainly because of their labour laws and the phases they have gone through. For example Canada- People are celebrating the occasion since 1880s. After the parade was staged in support of the Toronto Typographical Union's. It is famous as the strike went on for a 58-hour work-week. For example India- We have been observing Labour Day since May 1, 1927. This day is also marked by the protest by various labour organisations. It's a day of political protest. Similarly, the reasons vary from one nation to other.

But, the philosophy behind the day directly comes from the Labor Union Movement, happened in the US in 1882 I guess. Yah. Essentially to mark one day that will remind the rights and power of the labourers and the labour unions.

Now with corporate infiltration and hundreds of other rules and regulations, we must remember that we are protected by several laws and at the same time hold responsible as labourers.

Happy Labour Day.
