So how to make a good fake review? Some advocate that you have to use faulty English to mimic a "standard Indian consumer". Personally, I do not think that making fool of customers is the best way to improve reputation.... especially since they are going overboard.

First think of who is writing. I mean who is going to post a positive review about a product / shop for the sake of posting a review? Just praising the qualities seldom make sense, except if you have a wow effect... but in this case one must be able to feel it through your words, ie most people won't be able to write such fake reviews to begin with. And the wow seldom cover all aspects, only one, or two. And it's wow, not "gud". For e-commerce, you are more likely to be an online shopper, first-timer or regular, judging this service based on a past experience - though you do not need to talk about it.

By the same token, you have to give consistency to your persona. A picture, some reviews, some comments are time consuming but make a difference between obvious fake reviews and genuine simili. If you logged only once to write a positive review and a comment bashing a negative review, well...

Next comes the why. If you are not active on the website, you must have a really good reason to come here to write your opinion. You write when you are disgruntled. If it's plain sailing, why bother? It can be that you had low expectations but were pleasantly surprised. Or no expectations but were amazed. You can compare it to similar products or inferior ones. Comparing it with superior products will give even more clout to your review. Comparisons must also be based on some real facts, known by most people - nobody is going to check (but me), but lack of ground is tantamount to writing a death wish.

Ultimately, go out of your product. If your story is only product-centered without any "real" life element, everybody will understand that your faking it. And here again you have to go out of the obvious. One sentence is not enough, you need to describe some real life example. Though you must be careful not to write too much, or you'll have to provide ground for the size of the review - it must be consistent with everything.

Consistency is, according to me, the most important element, the most common mistake in writing fake reviews. You are one person, a buyer, a consumer. You are not supposed to have a conflict of identity with your job as a review writer. So beware.

PS: I wrote this post as I could no longer cope with the low quality of fake reviews, which are often way too obvious ... but you can use it to identify such with the mistakes I wrote about!
