Limping through the clouds

Taking your mom out for a long promised outing..? Fine ...only then go and watch this movie....oh and don’t forget to take your mobile phone along. You see those in-built games like ’Snake’ etc were meant for this purpose only....helping you survive some sugar-candy romance!

A young man (Keanu Reeves) comes back from WWII to the wife he barely knows, and when he finds she is interested in nothing but money he aimlessly gets on a bus, where he meets a damsel in distress. A Mexican-American college girl is pregnant by a married professor, and returning home to a Napa vineyard to face the music from her family (her father to be precise). He impulsively offers to help her, to pose as her husband and ’’abandon’’ her, so the family will accept her and her baby. Naturally, they fall in love, in spite of everything in their way...(courtesy: IMDb)

So what went wrong?

The clip showing ’The End’ came in 100 minutes too late...! The movie is not an absolute torture ’cause it has some good moments like the Wine Dance and Anthony Quinn. But that is the only saving grace.

Keanu Reeves’ poor-lad-act falls flat on face ’cause he manages to keep the same expression on his face throughout....mebbe he was pissed off with the director for paying him less.

Direction is so-so, couldn’t extract much out of a decent theme and camera work is absolutely useless...my next door One Minute photographer would have done a better job. I mean how hard can it be to capture beauty in a wineyard valley..!?

Oh, incidentally, the name of the family’s farm is ’The Clouds’, so don’t expect anything even remotely spiritual as promised by the film’s title.

Stay Away.

adieu!
