I wanted to write this complaint so that people don’t get duped by ACT Broadband and cable services.
I had enquired about getting an ACT Broadband connection and a Mr Venkat from ACT Shanthinagar promptly showed up at my house after badgering me with several phone calls even when I told him I was ill. He was insistent on coming home to take this connection to the next step. I thought that he was merely an aggressive sales man and finally enquired about what paperwork they needed. My in-laws were traveling and all address and ID proofs were in their name. So I had to send them the paperwork by courier and they had to send it back duly filled and signed. When Venkat came to collect the paperwork, we showed him the location from where the wiring could come in. There was no drilling involved. We also checked with him about the best place for the internal router. On the day that he came for installation, he suddenly told us that he wanted to put in a router for the whole area on our roof. Everytime they had a new connection or they had to check wiring, they would climb onto our roof, in the process breaking our tiles. SO we refused to have the Area router on our roof. The ACT office is only 3 streets away, I don’t understand why they could not have placed their area router on their own property. The bigger issue is that Venkat lied to us. He knew our home, we had asked for his advice, he conveniently forgot to let us know about how he wanted to use our house for an area router for which we would also have to bear the cost. Once we refused, he did not bother to call us to let us know next steps, when we called him, he told us that the connection would not be possible if we did not put the router in. At this point, he had our money of Rs 3680/- our address proof and ID proof documents. After this, it was call after call to the customer care centre, to the ACT office, to a MR Vineet who would only speak about how they had many connections but would never speak about how they had misled prospective customers and how they had tried to take advantage of people. After multiple phone calls everyday for a week, Mr Vineet suddenly gave us what he thought was a solution but in reality was just a way to take even more advantage of us. He recommended that we pay him Rs 2000/- more for special cabling only for our home. We never asked for any special cabling or any special service. At this point, we were at our wit’s end so we asked them to return our ID and address proof documents along with our money. Everyday they would tell us that it would take 7 more working days to return a cheque(which still has not happened). They have also refused to give us back our paperwork.
So now, we have to wait for months together until our in-laws return to again get our paperwork, so that we may get Broadband connection. They have given us a lot of agony and this has been a complete waste of our time.
