Airtel IPTV

I recently purchased Airtel IPTV. The service was promised free as I was having a broadband connection with a monthly rental of Rs 1000. I paid Rs 4000 as installatioin charges and got it. However I am finding that the technology is immature and not sufficiently proven in India. There are multiple challenges with it and at best it is avoidable in current scenario. Here are the problems

1. There is graniness and haziness in picture quality. It has worse quality compared to DTH

   
   




2. There is bluring of boundaries and the problem is much acute and worse with Red color

   
   




3. There is significant lag when you change channels. It takes a while for the new channel to load up and run at full frame speed

   
   




4. Rebooting time is high every time you switch on IPTV.

   
   




5. It has reduced / worsened my net experience when I have IPTV and internet connecteed on the same line.

   
   




6. I cannot watch You tube now the speed has slowed down significantly.

   
   




7. There is significant lag in any remote operation. You have to wait before anything moves. If you are used to fast switching on channels or any actions, IPTV is a nightmare

   
   

I think this technology is very immature and at best avoidable. It takes you behind in user experience. I think it wil at least two more years before services improve on this.
