I haven’t figured out why have auction sites opened up in India. I really don’t think there are any takers for it. A place like India where, every person likes to examine even a Rs 10/- item to closest attention, how could they shop something which they haven’t seen. Somehow, neither the founders of baazee nor bidorbuyindia have realized this. The former has got the dubious distinction of being one of the worst mismanaged site ( plz refer to others reviews on baazee… u will know!), bidorbuyindia is no better than baazee! Now lets get down to the site and then a personal experience.
The Site:
mmmh...okay is only the word which just about describe this site. The site loads relatively faster than baazee, but its nothing to write about. They have many sections like one hour auctions...which yeah last for a hour! The thing which surprises me in this category is the bidding increment which increases only in the last two minutes...I don’t know whether it’s a self play by the founders or the bidding genuinely increases!
I somehow find the name of site disgusting. bidorbuyindia for more or less sounds like telling me to bid or buy India! And it turns me off!
They have categories galore, and lots of stuff in them. Some of the categories have things running into thousands. The books category is quite confusing and the books are categorized quite vaguely. They could do with a reasonable bit of categorizing things clearly.
- I again find that the site caters only to mumbai. For all those who win from other places have to take a dd, send it and then they get the goodies. So much ooff! For nothing. If they had a VPP option it would serve better, or maybe cash on delivery would have been a better option still to atleast all the metros, if not smaller cities.
My Experience:
I must say, I am not at all happy with these idiots! When this site launched, they had a promotional ad going on https://contest2win.com , wherein all users who registered to the site would receive a cool cap! Sob! The cap or whereabouts of it never reached me. I wrote to bidorbuyindia about it ( I shouldn’t have I know!) and they never responded!
Then while surfing one day, I noticed a auction on shakespeare’s play. I won the bid for the book…but pardon me…what can I do if I won the book for just 60/- bucks? I was notified of my win in a grand way, and I thought maybe this time?
But hell no! First I was asked to notify my address for delivery...then I was asked whether I was sure I won the same book and then still asked whether I was sure of the price I won it for? Ha!
Here’s a copy of the mail I received from them regarding the book.

Dear Suyog,
Would you please tell me what is the bid amount the book Much Ado about nothing.
Regards,
Neema
I notified to this mail too! And that was the end of it.
If someone else has won, then probably he is luckier person, but my experience with them hasn’t been so very nice. I have stopped visiting the site for the simple reason: why waste internet time on them? I got better things to do!
do I recommend this site to anyone? I ought to be kidding!
